On December 1, 2018 Caliente Construction celebrated the holidays at the Civana Wellness Spa in Carefree, AZ. In conjunction with the annual holiday party, Caliente also celebrated the retirement of two very special employees, Carl Marcon and Russ Horton.

Carl Marcon started his career as a musician. He was lead singer and guitarist for the band Wakefield. Carl and his band played with such notable musicians as Chuck Berry and the Zombies. Carl joined Caliente in 2001 filling the roles of project manager and estimator. He is known for his ability to remain cool and calm even on the most intense bid day. Carl officially retired in 2016 but has graciously continued to pitch in to support our estimating team when needed. Carl and his wife Sherri have been a part of the Caliente family for 17 years and we hope they will continue to enjoy retirement; traveling and spending time with their families and making great music!

Russ Horton, affectionately known as “Pops” came out of his “first” retirement from the construction industry in 2005 to help Caliente’s owner Lorraine Bergman when her husband and company co-founder Tom Bergman became ill. This was supposed to be a temporary job, but after Tom passed Russ stayed on and became an invaluable part of Caliente’s team. There is not much Russ does not know about construction and we have relied on him throughout the years for his wisdom, common sense and incredible intelligence. Russ has been ‘retiring’ from Caliente for over four years, but in 2019 he plans to embark on a real retirement plan; spending time at his home in Payson and hitting the casino with his wife Jan. Russ will also be able to spend more time catching some fish and deer hunting with family in Arkansas every fall.
